We're watching a ton of basketball in our house these days (Go Warriors!). As we watched the Warriors play the Kings last night, we kept an eye on the Heat vs Bucks game, where the 8th seed Miami Heat beat the top seed Milwaukee Bucks after being down by 16 points heading into the fourth quarter. It was a brutal loss for the Bucks.
In talking about the loss after the game, Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo used two of my favorite words: Your Turn. “There’s no failure in sports," he said. "There’s good days, bad days, some days you are able to be successful, some days you are not, some days it is your turn, some days it’s not. That’s what sports is about. You don’t always win.”
I appreciate his outlook -- one to lean into when in job-search mode. It's true -- some days there are wins and other days there are not. Maybe we didn't hear back from a company after applying. Maybe an interview didn't go as well as we liked, and so on...
But we keep going, working, showing up, and trying, knowing there will be wins around the corner.
IT IS YOUR TURN! 👏
p.s., If you need a good movie, watch Rise, based on the true story of Giannis' journey to the NBA.
And this is a good read on resilience: A Story of Perseverance
