The September jobs report is out, and guess what, it was better than expected. Yes, hiring is happening! And if the Fed cuts rates again in November, hiring should continue to pick up next year.
Let’s prepare and build on this momentum!
First, take stock of those high-in-demand transferable skills of yours that often are honed while leaning out — good communication, empathy, problem solving, customer service chops. Show some love for those transferable skills because the industries hiring most are seeking them, as you can see in this chart below.
Second, shelve those negative thoughts. “What I like to do doesn’t fit into the current job market.” Challenge yourself to look at how what you like to do does fit into the current job market. What new things have you discovered about yourself? Check these negative thoughts at the curb.
Third, let go of any worries about a resume gap. As one CEO told us when writing our book, “Employers want to know what you can do for them right now. They don’t care about what you were doing a year ago.”
