When you’re highly educated, highly experienced, capable of doing A LOT simultaneously, and likely have many interests (that’s you!), it can be challenging to see past what you’ve done and let yourself imagine or see clearly what’s next. You’re likely open to many options. You’re flexible.
It’s problematic in a job search.
That’s because with 9.6 million open job opportunities, you’re stuck in job board scrolling H-E double hockey sticks. Your eyes are literally blurry after looking at LinkedIn or Indeed. You’re not sure if your experience aligns with current job requirements. When someone asks you what you want to do, you’re not exactly sure and so your answer sounds a bit rambling.
You’re not alone.
My best advice is to pause. Stop scrolling. Give yourself a chance to clear your head and get organized. Focus on the basics — like these 10 questions that can help you define the type of work you seek and then layer in the what/where/how and build your story.
I encourage you to consider joining our November cohort and enjoy the joy-sparking benefit of packaging up your story, your materials and confidence alongside others.
Because it is your story — unique to you but valuable to others.
IT IS YOUR TURN! 👏
xo, Stacey
